What do dreams about animals mean?
We start by looking at why we sometimes dream of animals, and what we can learn about ourselves and our lives from our animal dreams.
Sticking with the animal theme, we then look at what experiments with cats, back in the 1950s, taught us about the science of dreaming. I had been asked, last year, to chat about oneirology – the scientific study of dreams – on a radio show, and that got me thinking about the various ‘ologies’ I have studied, as well as my excitement, as a young student, about the neurological aspects of dreaming. We dip into oneirology in the middle section of today’s episode.
Finally, I include a radio interview from last week (ABC Radio Hobart), where the same presenter who invited me to chat about oneirology last year (Joel Rheinberger), interviewed me about my new novel, Ninth Life. Which – to round off the animal theme – features a cat.
